Lamour had been one of the strongest internal critics of the $20bn FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal, reportedly saying FIFA staff had been “deceived” over the plan. His departure comes as UEFA, AFC and CONCACAF continue to challenge Infantino's leadership and call for major governance reforms. FIFA has confirmed that its working relationship with Lamour ended on 17 August, but has not commented on the terms of his departure. Kevin Lamour, de 45 años, dejó su puesto como director de operaciones de la FIFA este lunes 17 de agosto, de acuerdo con información de medios internacionales.
El francés había expresado públicamente su desacuerdo con el plan impulsado por el presidente de la FIFA, Gianni Infantino, para abrir el Mundial a inversores privados. La propuesta también cuenta con el respaldo del presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump.
Lamour había señalado que el proyecto respondía a los intereses de una sola persona y pidió que no siguiera adelante.
Tras sus declaraciones, la FIFA confirmó que su relación laboral con Lamour terminó el 17 de agosto, aunque agradeció los dos años de trabajo del directivo y le deseó éxito en sus próximos proyectos.
El exdirectivo llegó a la FIFA hace menos de dos años. Antes de ocupar este cargo, trabajó en la UEFA y fue cercano colaborador del entonces presidente de ese organismo, Michel Platini.
En julio, Lamour también cuestionó el liderazgo de Infantino y aseguró que un presidente debería unir a las personas, en lugar de generar divisiones.
Ahora, después de hacer públicas sus diferencias con el proyecto, Lamour quedó fuera de la FIFA.
